Halifax namely Lloyds banking Group where not blameless due to fact that after the merger of many failing banks ( due to a recession these banks caused in 2009) the group started to divert all customers complaints and queries to a single office, manned with staff who’s only job was to give people the runaround and block them from reaching anyone important. In this customer service office responses to queries and complaints are generally things like ” I’ve passed this on the relevant department” or ” it’s being handled by a back office team”, Departments and teams that apparently have no telephone number or email address.
This office was set up due to the 100’s of weekly complaints the group where getting due to their dubious business ethics which caused the crash and recession of 2009 but is still active and giving customers the runaround today. Moorcroft Debt Recovery are aware of this so target lots of Lloyds banking Group customers knowing that they will not be able contact the bank to find out whether they are in fact representing the bank and the debt.

Do Moorcroft Debt Recovery Operate Legally?
Even when Moorcroft are not falsely representing themselves as officially managing LBG debts and are chasing someone for debt that they can legally pursue their tactics are questionable, immoral if not completely illegal .
While most official debt collection companies stay within the bounds of the law, Moorcroft Debt Recovery will adopt various illegal and immoral methods and tactics to collect a debt that in many instances they have no affiliation with and no legal right to ask for payment .
Here are some facts about Moorcroft Debt Recovery
- The Moorcroft group are invloved in many illegal and questionable activities including but not limited to chasing debts that are over six years old and thus uncollectable due to the statute of limitations. Using threats of physical violence, especially if the debtors are eldery. Calling a debtor 3 or 4 times in one day and calling late at night, both of which constitute harassment.
- During the past couple of years The criminals at the Moorcroft group have started to target digital payment providers and in 2020 Moorcroft sent out thousands of fake demands claiming to be working as a collection agency for Paypal. Thousands of people who either didn't have a Paypal account or had an active account in good standing got threatening letters asking for £1000, £2000, £3000 and as of writing this we are not sure how many elderly people they bullied into paying a non existent debt but this was a new low even for the Moorcroft group.
- Moorcroft Debt Recovery Stockport namely the McRoberts family run a sophisticated scam business and are not here to help you or listen to your problems. Dog died, car on fire, lost your wallet? They don’t care and there have even been reports of laughing being heard in the background when people are pleading with them….Imagine a room with 100 people sitting at individual desks, with headsets on. These sales people are paid a bonus in accordance to how much they can get you to pay off the debt.
- The staff at these call centres have morning meetings before they begin. Here, they are given tactics on how to get you to pay e.g. ‘ …tell them we have their neighbours’/bosses number and we will ask them for the money’….or…’if you don’t pay today, we will make arrangements to have your parents’ car taken away and sold off to pay off the debt’. The bosses at these companies tell the staff how much money they expect each of them to collect by the end of the day. When these people call you, talking/negotiating with them is as effective as double sided playing card
- Where do they get the debts?…..they buy most of them, and in bulk . They have sales guys that target banks, institutions, mobile phone operators and buy a large collection of these debts for a % of the debt. What does this mean?….Let’s say your debt from Bank ‘A’ is an old credit card and was for £1678…….usually the DCA buys it for 10-20% of original value. However they will demand full amount, plus, their own charges on top. So they pay around £300 and try and get over £2000 off you, and over a fixed agreed time, you can begin to see why they make so much money and don’t care about personal circumstances.
Now they have a database of all these debts in front of them with telephone numbers and addresses given from the original debtor…now what? They want cash from you, as quick as possible , with the least amount of effort on their part. So now they adopt various methods of achieving that…….
- A standard letter is sent to you, asking for the amount, plus charges back. Often breaching OFT guidelines and making official looking documents intended or likely to, mislead debtors as to their status, for example, documents made to resemble court claims.
- Phone calls – A favourite tactic – calling you about 5-10 times a day, on every number they have to contact you, mobile, home and work. Sometimes sending texts and asking you to call them back on premium rate numbers. Imagine the above happening to you everyday for the next month. Once again, something else that you can stop
- Moorcroft Debt Recovery will begin with a series of varying tactics, if they still have no success collecting the full amount, these include – contacting you at unreasonable times, ignoring legitimate wishes in respect of when and where to contact you, claiming instructions from the courts, claiming to be bailiffs. Falsely implying or stating that action can or will be taken when it legally cannot us a business name which implies public body status, or falsely implying or stating that failure to pay a debt is a criminal offence or that criminal proceedings will be brought if debtors to pay in full, in unreasonably large installments, or to increase payments when they are unable to do so.
